Environmental testing

Environmental testing by the SPIEZ LABORATORY is considered as a cross-sector activity and enhances existing synergies. The SPIEZ LABORATORY must be able to measure radioactivity as well as identify radionuclides, chemical warfare agents and special pathogens either in a crisis situation or as part of its day-to-day work (research, development and testing). These capabilities are also needed in their environmental safety activities. The SPIEZ LABORATORY uses its know-how and its infrastructure to create synergies and to optimise the capabilities of its customers in this field.
The Environmental Analysis Group primarily deals with these matters. Its activities include:
- Running the ISO/IEC 17025 accredited testing laboratory STS 101 to determine major and trace elements, as well as selected air pollutants;
- Development of detailed sampling plans and on-site sampling according to special orders from customers
- Analysis of environmental samples for the presence of toxic heavy metals (examples);
- Interpretation of environmental investigation results in accordance with the relevant legal bases;
- Providing specialist analyses and expertise to assist various international projects in which the SPIEZ LABORATORY participates;
- Specialist training of apprentice chemical laboratory assistants
